Project Description:
Library Success is a wiki that enables librarians and other knowledge management professionals to pool information about effective professional and organizational strategies, especially those that make innovative use of technology.
Points of interest:
Librarians are natural (though often overlooked) allies in bridging the nonprofit digital divide.
Many nonprofit technology professionals are justifiably concerned about talking about knowledge in the public interest, human-computer interaction, information architecture, and accessibility; meanwhile, librarians are dealing in these issues on a retail basis. They have a built-in incentive not just to show people where the information lies, but to teach them how to discover it for themselves and make effective use of it. As more librarians develop their expertise in information and communication technologies, they focus on tools to get the job done, rather than as interesting but pointless inventions. The Library Success web site has the potential to provide nonprofit professionals with field-tested insights about knowledge management that is truly mission-based.
